Hiya, I have tried and tried to find my grandfathers birth but no such luck. John Hogan born 1878 in Liverpool parents Michael/Ellen Hogan. I have found him on the 1891 and 1901 census and I have even found his marriage and death but no birth!!! Anne-Marie

could he have been registered in Birkenhead..there is a John Hogan born Jan-Feb-March 1878 there volume 8a page 510

There are six possible John Hogan Births in Liverpool 1877-1879 on Free BMD. Regards William Russell Jones Cefn Mawr Wrexham.

anne-marie...how do you know he was born 1878..is it from census..if so sometimes are a bit out, depending on whethter person has just had bithday, is just about to have one and so on I must admit roy has done better than me, i could only find four..2 in 1879 and 2 in 1877, if you do decide to order a birth cert you can add parents name as a check as you know them and they will refund you some of the money if it is not the right one (depending on where you order it from) i recomend http://www.gro.gov(.)uk/gro/content/certificates/ (remove brackets)

He was definatley born in 1878 as I have seen it written on his grave stone. However, I think the John Hogan that Roy has found in 1878 Oct/Nov/Dec West Derby may be the one I am looking for. Thanx guys for your help x Anne-marie.
