Hi I have managed to get back to John Upton born abt 1735 in Winterbourne, Gloucester. He married Ann Adams 2 Aug 1762 and was buried March 3rd 1792, Winterbourne, Gloucester. I have checked IGI and it is giving me the ref Film no 442345 pages and 251-375. What does this mean and what do I do with it? I have checked the baptism records and cant find any baptism for him. Any advice or help would be great. I am trying to find his relatives. Thankyou Marcelle

Marcelle Without actually looking at it, it sounds like 'Temple Records for the Sealing of the Dead'. These are private and only available to members of the LDS faith. However - try clicking on that reference and see what comes up. OC

''Record submitted by a member of the LDS Church'' This information may not be accurate. The number refers to ''Endowments for the dead, 1923-1970; heir indexes, 1923-1949; baptisms for the dead, 1944-1970 - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alberta Temple '' You would need the original records from the parish register to check it against.

This birth is also on the LDS site as a Pedigree file submitted by: Dean Pugh MCALLISTER 939 So. Wind River Way Kaysville, UT 84037 Beware - he has the marriage and burial dates in Winterbourne but only 'about 1735' for the birth which suggests he worked out the approx year from the age at burial and guessed that John was born in the same parish where he was married and buried. Your best bet is to try to access the original parish registers for Winterbourne to search either side of that date, as age at death may have been wrong, and then to search other parishes in ever increasing circles around WInterbourne. It would be a good idea to look for othr instances of the Upton surname in Winterbourne and surrounds to try to establish when he and or his family moved there.

Thankyou very much everyone. I have looked at the parish records for Winterbourne. Winterbourne Down and Frenchay which are the other parish's . They only go back to 1834 and 1861. Do you know how I would get to see those parish's for earlier., I noticed on the IGI that some of the births of the children for Isaac Upton and Ann Wall were dates before Isaac and Ann were born! All the info I have gathered I have double checked on the baptism, deaths and marriages. I found a fab website for Winterbourne when I googled. Once again thanks very much
