A very old relative who heard I was researching the family tree has forwarded on to me a selection of the above, (all on parchment with seals etc) I am finding the handwriting very elaborate and a) Cant read it fully b) would like to know more about the items and understand as it is not only my relative that is mentioned! Can someone point me in the right direction etc? Thanx Sara |

It may help you if you go to TNA web site and look at the palaeography section. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/palaeography/ Jennifer |

If you search on Google you will find numerous examples of these types of documents. Certainly when I was trying to decipher an apprentice indenture from the early 1800's I was able to find a similar example online just by searching 'this indenture witnesseth'. I believe that these were preprinted documents which had the names dates etc added later. Pete |
