I am trying to get a marriage cert from Co. Antrim c. 1877, can this be got from both http://www.groni.gov.uk and http://www.groireland.ie? Is one source better than the other? Also the year is pretty exact but not absolutely definite. At GRO Scotland it would be found by their minimal search window (5 years) so I really need the equivalent of that. cheers Iain Kennedy

Hi, Groni charge £11 and will generally look 2 years either side if they don't find it in the year you've given. If you can get to a Mormon Family History centre that hold the Irish BMD Index (see my thread on tips board) you can find the volume and page number and can apply to Groni by POST and it will be £5.50. A third option is looking at the site ancestryireland.com the database is NOT complete but you can search free and see whether the two names come up for the same year. You can download 5 transcribed certificates for £6 in a ONE name database ( 5 certificates for John Smith) you DO NOT need to be a member just create a user name and password at checkout. Can't offer opinion on the other site you mention have never used it. Teresa
