Hey everyone... I'm really confused! Have been searching for my g-grandfather, knew what district he had been born in and thought that I would have a look in the census 1881. Then thought Yippee I've found him cos I've been having one of those nights where I can't find anything But I'm really confused... Parents are listed as Bodle He and his 2 siblings, are listed as White? Would it still say Father if its step-father? If anyone else has had this, please let me know haha!

I doubt if it says 'father'.....the relationships stated on census returns are always as to the Head of the household............ It may well state that the White children are son or daughter of the man Bodle, as he may just have described them as such. Do you want someone to look at the relevant return for you? If so, give a few more details............. Reg

Thanks, thats what I was thinking although on the front page before you go into the actual census, it says father...better get looking some more! Although I love it when I open one door and 8 more are in front of me, I just wish it wouldn't happen at 11o'clock at night haha!
