as the years for 1859/60/62 are not coompletly transcribed on freebmd it might be worth checking the actual images for the missing 'bits'..........of course there is always the possibility they never married or got married years later !

Hiya John, I have looked in the Marriage Indexes original images and the only ones with a London connection are these: 1860 Jan/feb/mar - William Markall Archer - Stepney 1860 Apr/May/Jun - William Archer - Bethnal Green 1860 Apr/May/Jun - William Archer - Hackney 1862 July/Aug/Sept - William Holmes Archer - Strand 1862 Oct/Nov/Dec - William Archer - Westminster 1863 Jul/Aug/Sept - William Archer - Strand 1863 Jul/Aug/Sept - William Archer - Islington They would have been married before they had children in those days, surely. Stella X Just noticed there is a maiden name for Sarah, I will try and cross reference it for you later.

Marriages: Read this John....... Asserted ages can be misleading or the certificates may be merely described a party as of 'full age' or as a 'minor'. Until raised to 16 in 1929, 12 was the minimum age at which a girl could marry, and 14 for a boy. Up to 1969 parental consent was necessary until a minor attained 21, since when it has been 18. An underage couple marrying against the parents wishes might add on a few years to make them full adults. It might be worth looking for a marriage from 1855 in your case. I can look for you later when my children are in bed!!!!! Stella X

John I don't know if this will help but I have found your William Archer on the 1881 census: William Archer born abt 1841 Head Spouse Sarah Born Deptford Kent Civil Parish Rotherhithe County London Country England Street Address 29 Renforth Street Occupation Sewersman Drainage Serv Reg District St Olave Southwark Sub Reg District Rotherhithe Ed institution or vessel 16a Household members Charles age 2 George 5 Harriet 9 Harry 11 James 16 John 18 Sarah 39 William 40 William 13 Maybe the Parish you need to look into is Rotherhithe or St Olave Southwark, never looked through Parish records so I wouldn't know. - Stella X
