I have a Sarah Stockdale b.1872 Yorkshire (North). She married Peter Hardy Watson 1890. Parents of Sarah are Robert Stockdale b.abt.1839 and Emily b.abt 1852. I have this family on 1881 census as living with other people but one name is Reivley - on the 1871 there is a Robert b.1831 with a different wife but also with a Reveley (sp). I am so confused now. I am not sure if I have the correct people for her parents and grandparents. My Aunt told me that her parents died when she was about 10 and the people that took her in basically threw her out as a young girl - Auntie then shut up and wouldnt say another word on the subject - do they do this on purpose - it drives me crazy! They go off on these stories then leave you hanging high and dry! I will forgive her as she is nearly 90 but it's very frustrating! Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I can't see why they are listed as Lodgers,as the family are living in a seperate house.The interesting thing is the the two Stepchildren named Williams.The 'Revely's are not relevant as they are living in the next house. Regards William Russell Jones Cefn Mawr Wrexham.

I tried to sort out the other children ages ago and came up against a brick wall! I was confused then but even worse now. I thought that the name Reivley or Revely was important as on both census years that name appears but the person I am looking for is nearly 10 years younger with a different wife.

Thanks K, you mention a Stephen in your reply - who was that? I don't know why I never thought of the children that way - and it is so obvious. Amazing how blind we can be at times.
