Hi All Could anyone tell me what the occupation of James Smith is please on the 1861 census ref RG9/3920 page5. He is the third name from the bottom. I can`t make it out at all. Many thanks. Eileen

Is this the 51 year old in Carlisle? It's just that he is near the top of the page and not third from bottom, unless I am looking at the wrong image. The one I can see is a Cotton Weaver. UPDATE - from the response fromAnn, I must be looking at the wrong image. Have you got the complete RG number? Kath. x

Your reference should be RG9/3920 folio 62 page 5. I can't make out the the job either. Jennifer

full reference is RG9; Piece: 3920; Folio: 62; Page: 5; .. but can´t read occupation !
