What did a Press Operator do?

I have just got my grandads death cert. and on it, its saying he was a press operator when he died....does any body know what this meant or where i could go to find out what he did. I firstly thought that maybe he worked in newspaper or magazine industry then thought well it could have been that he pressed clothes.... |

More likely to be engineering. A press bends sheet metal between shaped tools to make all sorts of products and components: think car body panels, appliance cabinets, saucepans, in fact almost anything. I have never heard the expression used in connection with printing. Someone who operates a printing press is a printer. |

hubby was a press operator at one time ,worked in an engineering factory working a pressing machine that did metal parts cutouts from sheet metal |
