Can anybody have a look at the 1851 Census for George Morley born 1806 Portsmouth please. He is living at High Street, Warblington. As usual, the writing is appaling. It looks like he is a black something keeper? Thank

Hello Jan Had a look for you - there are a lot of George Morleys! Glad I'm not hunting for them ;o) His occupation says 'Black Dog Inn Keeper' Cheryl :o)

Thanks Cheryl. I was thinking more on the lines of a man who looked after dogs of some sort.

Interesting! Looks like Black Dog Innkeeper ? Oh, too late as usual ... :-). Sorry, I posted then saw it had been sorted.

It looks more like you had inn keepers in the family! I have quite a few so eyes have got used to reading strange pub names! Just had a quick look on google for it, and it doesn't look like it is still there, but it may have changed it's name by now. :o)
