Help i have hit a brick wall trying to find my fathers parents.I have my dads birth cert so have my nans maidenname but cant find a marriage.Any ideas how else i can find out.Also dad had brothers besides paying for birth certs for all males born 10 yrs either side of my dad any other ways to find out. Thank you all in anticipation. Thanks All Have tried all them but nearest match i could find was marriage 1893 but that was a wrong first name for grandfather. Fathers name Bernard Francis Harman born 19/9/1916 fathers name Harry, mothers nameCharlotte formerley Clarke, living at 12 Doleham cottages Guestling Sussex. I couldnt find this address in the Census's i have looked in. Only marriage i could find was Between Henry and Charlotte Clarke 1893

Christine, Births are free to search on Ancestry. Mother's maiden name is listed after 1911. Can you list some names and dates? Rose

you can look for free on Ancestry BMD its free to register too it will have on the birth index the mothers maiden name on there too http://www.ancestry(.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Remove brackets Jeanette

On Ancestry you need to look at the Complete BMD Index ranges & Images 1837-1983 it takes longer but you have more chance of finding them the, Partial FreeBMD Indexes & Images 1837-1983 is hit and miss up to about 1910 after that its not much good Roy
