A couple of years ago I came across a web site which listed public houses and publicans from the 19th century ( mostly in England ) . I found it very useful but stupidly forgot to note the site address. Can anyone supply it ? If my memeory serves me right it was a site run by volunteers. Les Harris |

Liz, Thanks, that's the one I was looking for. I tried Google but had no luck. I've taken a note of it this time and will add to my list of useful sites. Les |

Another good one is: www.1881pubs(.)com It is, as it implies a list of pubs (unfortunately none from Winchester) from the 1881 census and includes all the occupants at the time. maggie |
