Ed! ahum.... cough, cough .... you say...' i,ve searched and exhausted all sites accessible to me,' I/we don't know what sites they are but if you Google ... Dudley+St Thomas+OPR and/or Jacobs+dudley+babtism Lots will come up in the search. That's how I found the Hugh Wallis batch numbers for... Worcester, England. Info above. and/or have a look at Genuki site. They have a search thingy. If you go to the LDS site, there you can search for your closest LDS Church in your area, there are heaps in Australia. You just need to dot down the Batch numbers/film numbers and take a sandwich and a drink with you. I've yet to do this for the first time and we have a new LDS church been built in the last 12 months, just one street away! Anyway, good luck 'mate'. Babz ;-) |

Sorry Ed, I've searched all the Dudley resources I know of (I've ancestors in Dudley myself so I've an idea what's available online) and I've been unable to find baptisms for either of your rellies. The Dudley St Thomas PRs are complete on the IGI as far as I am aware, so your baptisms should be there if they existed. I have seen the films of the original PRs earlier this year and I don't recall any gaps in the records. baptisms 1813-1825 C040143,1825-1833 C040144 marriages 1763-1834 M040144 As I mentioned in my previous post, a father's name was often made up to 'save face'. Admitting you were illegitimate to the vicar marrying you may have been embarrassing? Regarding the Henrietta found in 1841, Henrietta is the female version of Henry......??? Henrietta was not born in the county. The likely looking Thomas Jacobs found in 1841 aged 19 was not born in the county either but you only had to be born a couple of miles from Dudley to be born in Staffordshire. The Hartland name seems more popular in nearby Sedgley which comes under Staffordshire, so that's something to bear in mind. Sorry I couldn't be of any further help. |

The only Jacobs couple I can see having children in Dudley around the time of Thomas' birth were a John and Hannah. Maybe Thomas made up a father named Henry? Perhaps he was illegitimate? Maybe somebody could check NBI for the detath of Henry? |

Duh! (See above): but we have nothing to connect Thomas of Dudley with Newcastle, and he would have been of full age on marriage in 1841 if he was born 1810. |

Wasn't Thomas Jacobs was already dead in 1841? Sorry: confusing names! But he couldn't have been a minor on marriage if he was born 1810. |

There is a Mary Hartland, aged 21, living alone at Holly Hall, Dudley in 1841 census too. Not much help, but I would search the PR for Dudley, St Thomas for a baptism record for her. IGI has a Mary Hartland b1819, father Jesse, and that family is also to be found in 1841 census. I don't see a third Mary in Dudley. In 1851 census Thomas gives his age as 28 (1823) and Mary Ann 30 (1821), both born Dudley. |
