Well, hopefully you will have the birth cert or marriage cert of the first child who marries after 1837 which will give you the fathers names and occupations for the period before 1837. Then its down to checking parish records. |

Hi, This is where it starts to get fun and possibly expensive, you have to start visiting the records offices for the county they were in or originated from. The County records offices hold the Parish records for Baptisms (not births), Marriages and Burials (not deaths). These are normally held on micro fiche and can be viewed in the office. There is the IGI online at www.familysearch.org, some baptisms etc can be found on there, but should be confirmed by checking the actual parish registers at the records office. There are some parish records available online I believe, but as yet have not used them, prefer to visit the records offices. Have fun, its great to find relations on the fiche. Keith |

How does one trace back before the census records? It's been quite easy finding father of son etc. but now I'm stuck. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. |
