I see that in 1851, she says she was born in Shepperton.......... If she had siblings, their baptisms are not recorded in the same batch as Lucy's Johnson, British Isles Father: William , Mother: Ann Exact Spelling: Off Batch Number: C037211 1. LUCY SMITH JOHNSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 15 MAR 1831 Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London, England Reg

Thanks - yeah I have her death - its just 1841 that I can't find her and me desperate to know if she had siblings as I feel like I am missing a family! Oh and yes they are badly mistranscribed in 1851 - they are DORCUPORTS (or something similar) ;o)

Sorry chaps, I am at work and got caught up! Lucy married and became a Davenport and always appeared on the census as Lucy S Davenport, Smith was also given as a middle name to a number of her children. Her marriage cert says 'of full age' which is useful (NOT) on the census it does state that c1831 is her year of birth.

have you looked just under Smith rather than Johnson as I had rellies Smith Ashworth and found them eventually as Smith. Jeanette

Sorry, I could only find one age 11, with parents Thomas and Elizabeth, in Bethnal Green. In my experience, it is more usual for someone to have been baptised and born in the same area, between the ages of a few weeks and two years old.

Hi Diana, if you have found her on the 1851 as married, you should have her year of birth and place of birth. Baptism could have taken place at any age, if the baby was sickly at birth, they were usually baptised quickly in case the baby died, but like now, some were not baptised until adulthood. What age was she in 1851 and where was she born? When and who did she marry?

I have Lucy Smith Johnson's baptism record in 1831 showing her fathers name as William and mother Ann, baptised in St.Martin In the Field, London. But I can't find them on the 1841 census at all!! How old would a child be at baptism? Is it likely she was baptised in the parish she was born? Can anyone help? I can find her as a married woman fromn 1851 onwards so I do know she lived! Thanks in advance of your help!
