I know its possible to send off for a soldiers military records if you have the regiment and soldier number. I have this info from ww2 of my grandfather in the army - however i also know he was in the navy from ww1 and years later. The question is :do i need a seperate number for his navy records or will all his military records be held on the one bunch of documents? The navy records are what i really need for gathering further info...although the army records would be interesting of course. If anyone that has struck these circumstances, and ordered the records, could shed some light on this i would be very grateful. Steve |

Check for Royal Navy records on the documentsonline website. It covers RN sailors who joined upto 1923. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/royal-navy-service.asp |
