Suggestion for how to write Trying To Find

It would help if people did this or similar at top of message: 'Smith in London, England 1700s, barrow boys' That way we can scan quickly through for relevant names, dates, towns/countries, occupations. You DON'T have to write 'my name is/ and I'm looking for..' For the rest of the entry, here's a simple format I suggest: 'anybody related to: Fleming, David b c1765 maybe Fife. m Marion Boyd (David's parents could have been David+Isabell Greig? or William F + Janet Birrel? his son David b 28/3/1790 m Jane/Jean Stark in Cumbernauld etc etc to my grandfather PS And do people really have to use the Message Boards to say Merry Christmas to everyone on Genes Reunited? I know that sounds a bit Scroogish but let's keep it short and relevant.

David, What your message implies to me is, that when you yourself are scanning through the messages, if you don't see a name thats related to you, then you won't bother to look. Most people do this out of the kindness of their hearts because they like to help others, obviously this does'nt apply to you. What's wrong with (my name is and i'm looking for). Once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS. Barbara.

I suppose the Trying To Find Board is the equivalent of the 'Seeking' pages in Family History Magazines. I must admit that when I look at the Seeking pages in a family history magazine that I only scan the surnames and the surnames are usually in capitals and emboldened for easy scanning. These Seeking messages don't usually have a Merry Christmas in them at this time of year! ;-) But that's a magazine not a message board. An editor has control over Seeking pages in a magazine. No one seems to have much control over the Trying To Find Pages on here - just the users! ;-) I only read the Seeking entries in family history magazines if the surname appears in my family tree or unless something about the message grabs my attention. However, just to show I'm not a complete Ebenezer: ;-) MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY READERS!!! ;-) ;-) (all 3 of them!) ;-) Cheers, Horatia
