Betty Anywhere in Scotland is covered by Scotlandspeople. BMD, census, the lot. It's a simple as that. When you say that you can't find records for Skye on Scotlandspeople I take it you mean you can't find particular individuals? Are they your ancestors? As I recall, many of these were Catholic. If so then it is unlikely that they will appear in the Old Parish Records (OPR) as these were the records of the Established Church. Denis.

Hi Betty, Have just looked on freecen under Portree and Sleat (the few places I can remember in Skye) and both come under Inverness-shire, with the former having 1841 & 1851 census transcriptions on there. There is also a webpage http://www.skye*co*uk (remmeber to replace the * with .) which has good maps and an ancestry/genealogy link. Happy hunting. Donna x p.s did you get your Irish Marriage Cert? x

Sorry Denis, John and Donna, Just poping in for a minute, sorry I was doing a favour for someone on the board searching their Scottish rellies, found them on a census but I have been told before this they were in Skye. Just waiting on them getting back to me for their lookup, I went into Scotlands People but couldn't find Skye but will have another look. Thanks everyone I was just trying to help someone out!! Mine are all Scottish or Irish even worse!!! Betty
