And £10 was worth what £1200 is today. but given that,relatively speaking, income was only a fraction of what we earn today it meant he was fairly wealthy.

sh is 'shilling' (one twentieth of a pound) 5p in todays coinage d is pence (one twelth of a shilling) 0.4p in today's coinage For those too young to remember real money.

L is pound! Moiety is a portion/share Tent - tenement? = house, land, rent. In this instance, i would guess it it is his piece of land with dwelling, which may be freehold, or could be tenanted. Jay

Well, 'Moiety' means 'small portion' or 'half'. I see there is a mention of the 'other half of said tent.' Tent appears to be an abbreviation............. Reg
