I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT MY NATURAL GRANDMOTHER MARRIED AT REGISTRY OFFICE IN EAST SUFFOLK. THE MAN SHE MARRIED WAS THOMAS ROBERT PAGE AGED 48. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS EDITH EMMA ALDRICH AGED 25. THOMAS WAS LISTED AS A GARDENER. THE WITNESS FOR THE MARRIAGE WAS HENRY GIBBS FRANCIS.I KNOW ITS A LONG SHOT BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT 'THE KENNELS' WERE. DOES ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY HAVE A HENRY GIBBS FRANCIS THAT MAY HAVE KNOWN THE COUPLE POSSIBLY PHOTOS OF THE WEDDING? WE DONT HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF THE COUPLE WE HAVE NEVER SEEN WHAT MY GRANDMOTHER LOOKED LIKE, SHE WAS DISOWNED BY HER FAMILY. PLEASE ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT.MANY THANKS IN ADAVNCE. |

If you put the name Edith Aldrich into the quick search box at the top of the page, there a couple of other people besides yourself with this name in their tree, and if you haven't already contacted them you will be able to. Sorry I can't help with the query about the Kennels. Kath. x |

The kennels could be to do with hunting - each hunt had its own pack of hounds, which were bred, reared and housed in the hunt kennels, many of which were situated on the estates of big houses. Often they were the responsibility of the gamekeeper, but sometimes there were cottages attached to the kennels, where estate staff lived, and their duties may have included helping with the hounds - feeding, training, exercising. This may have tied in with the gardening occupation. Perhaps if you google Claydon+history yuo might get a bit of local history. Jay |

Possibly Hunt Kennels...Maybe Thomas worked as a Gardener for the Master of Foxhounds or the the kennels were converted for employee accomodation at some time but had kept the name. I think you would be looking for a large country house. Chris |
