What you don't say is what family history program you are using or are you talking about your tree on GR. Only Family Tree Maker will back up to a CD and take your photos with it, any other program will not take the photos with it's back up file. If your using another program please tell me what it is. 170 people will easily fit. Depending on how big the photos are will depend it they will. They should though. CDs are usually 700mb. Takes quite a bit to fill them with a tree. You will be able to retrieve the tree from the CD on any PC that will read the program you used to create the tree. You won't be able to write to the CD again though. As for the How - did you get a program with the drive? |

So I've bought one CD-R and I'm ready to backup my tree complete with photographs. With 170 people on the tree and about 20 photographs, will it all record onto the one disc (I'm not sure whether it's 700 or 100 MB)? And on completion will I be able to take the disc to another PC and maneauver the details in the usual way? Now for the punch line.....How do I do it? |
