1. NORCAP will be able to help you. They have a website at www.norcap.org 2. Get in touch with either the General Registrar, or your local Social Services, who should be able to arrange access to your original adoption records for you 3. Send me an e-mail, and I can let you have my telephone number if you wish to chat - I have been involved with adoption advice for over 20 years, and am researching my adoptive and birth families 4. Contact the local library for the address you have, and ask them if they can tell you who was living at the address in 1957. This will often be a nursing home or similar, but if you are lucky will be the home of her family and give you more names to go on. 5. I am member of www.1837online so if I can help with searches etc. will be happy to do so

hard work but try trawl through every year of marriage for mothers maiden name, i have done this and rehomed someones adoption cert i got my hands on which was the wrong one for me. luckily mine was a very common name but instinct took over even though the lady i found was from manchester and i found her in rochdale. gave her her adoption cert she was over whelmed. very hard work and time consuming but worth it if u find her, another slow step is go through your local social services and try let them find her. good luck.

Does anyone know how I can go about getting information all I have is my birth mothers name Margaret Williams and her DoB 09/04/31, I know she was single when I was born in 1957, she lived in NW london I have the address she was at then, I also know she worked as a clerical assistant for the electricity board at the time around my birth, but I don't know what to do with the info I have or how to move forward with it, I hope there is someone out there who can help thankyou
