Regarding the 1871 census image... Fanny is at the house next door to the Cooks, but it says 'Daughter' as her relationship, rather than Head... implying that she is the daughter of the head of the household (but they are not there!) I think that her parents are away and she is staying there with her brother (the 'Son' of the head who is away!) The occupation looks to me like 'Keeping the house' on her line and 'Parents from home' written underneath. Cheryl :o)

Can anyone deciper the above census image please. Think Fanny C Fossett has her daughter with her and is looking after the house while her parents are away???? Think that where it says son he is infact her brother as possible her maiden name was Russell. Just cant decipher what it says as occupation next to her

Dawn Something strange about that family in 1871. If Fanny is 32 then how come the son is age 21? But the son is a Russell !!! Maureen
