Hi Everyone, Walter Ambrose Christmas Prosser was his name, born St Saviour, Southwark, London 1873. I can not find him on the 1891 census anywhere. He joined the Lancashire Fusiliers in 1892. Married Grace Thomas in Stockbury, Kent in 1901, listing address of residence for himself as St Mark's Portsmouth. His daughters were born in Kent, 1902, 1903 and 1904. I have seen a photo on the net of the Lancashire Fusiliers around 1901-1902 with the King on horse back in the Portsmouth area but it didn't list the location. Hope this makes it clearer. Cheers again Tracey

Cheers Keith, My relation was a Army Cpl in the Lancashire Fusilier. I know they served in Portsmouth but can't pinpoint the barracks. Just had St Mark's but thanks for your time. Cheers Tracey

There is a St Marks rd, not far from the old HMS Excellent, which was a gunnery school on Whale Island. Keith

Hi, Can anyone tell me please what St Mark's Portsmouth was? I believe it to be a military estabilshment, have a relation on a 1901 marriage certificate listing this as residence. But alas I'm unable to find the place. Seasonal Greetings Tracey
