Has anyone used this website to look up the Phillimore Parish Registers? Is it worth the price?

What is Phillimore's?

Hi there, Phillimores are a series of books that list all the Parishes and give you details of where the Parish Registers can be found. The atlas has maps of each county so you can see exactly where each parish is. These books can be found in public libraries and can be borrowed as normal books without charge. Mary

What a good idea. Maybe a good idea for a Christmas present, if hubby's stuck on what to get you ;-)

familyrelatives best offer is the period 1866-1920 for bmd which are name searchable and well worth the money if you are totally flummoxed about dates or areas.

Mary is not quite right, she has the information about the Atlas correct, but Phillimore Parish Registers are transcriptions of the actual marriage registers pre 1837, great for looking for those early marriages. Jennifer

Thanks for the replies. I understand that they are the actual parish records & presumably you can trace baptisms and marriages. Does anyone know whether they are easy to search & therefore worth 20p per hit. Thanks

Karrie, I take it you have first checked the IGI for the marriage you are searching for?

If you read my earlier reply, I said they were transcriptions of the Marriage Registers, they do not include baptisms or burials. Jennifer
