I agree with Reg and Gail, plus she is employed as a Cotton Weaver so i don't think the word inmate fits. Roy

Hi I think it actually says 'illegitimate'. I have her as living at 68 Lovat Road, Preston, Lancashire. The wife in the house is Ellen Finney, married to Joseph, so perhaps she was Ellen's daughter.

Gwyn Yes that the same one I found, Thankyou. On the 1901 it states Tinney thought. My mum always said she was relative to Sir Tom Finney the footballer so I maybe on to something Kate on the 1891 census Martha E is down as Elizabeth's daughter but I think its Martha's child Shaz

ErikaH Report 17 Dec 2006 21:40

Sharon The surname in 1901 is Finney..........Tinney is just the Ancestry 'version' of the name........a mistranscription. Reg

Sharon Report 17 Dec 2006 21:47

Reg I coundn't find Ellen Finney on 1901. So I went looking for Martha E and found her living with the Tinneys so I thought it was mis spelt Thankyou for verifying that up. Shaz
