Hi Chris My old computer used to do that for no apparent reason sometimes. I'm sure I followed Judy in the States thread about Routine PC Maintenance to sort it out. I'll go and nudge the thread for you Jeanette x |

Hello Chris Series of beeps could be memory related when your screen went all mosaic that could be your graphic card. You need Utilities programme that will find and fix problems. How old is your computer? Also do you have a firewall if not you could be at risk at hackers messing around with your system. (Don't worry to much about this last question it is a long shot but still there is a risk) Lee Hi, my PC just went all funny! this is what happened-------there were a series of beeps, then the screen went all mosaic and all the icons went big,the curser stopped working[would'nt move] a notice came up saying 'something had stopped working' can't tell you what cos i just panicked! and to save work and reboot, which i did, has anyone ever had this? i have just had a new hard drive. i am worried!!!!!!! To eliminate Hardware faults you can often (not always) get Device Manager to identify any faulty hardware. Proceed as follows: On Desktop, right click My Computer. Click Properties. On System properties splash screen, click Hardware tab, then Device Manager. This displays all the devices connected to the processor. Expand items by clicking +. To check the functionality of any device, click the name. The device status is displayed on a splash screen. Exit all screens to close. HTH David |
