Hey, come on guys... aren't you being a bit hard on the GR folks? I think this is an amazing website and while I agree there are some pretty odd things about it (I've virtually given up looking at Hot Matches) the complexity of running a database/treechart like this must be enormous. I've had reason to write to the GR folk on a couple of occassions and I've always found them very helpful.

I also used to check my tree matches for new names nearly every day. It was so quick and simple but I have given up now - it just takes too long. Anne

Like everyone else I am also having problems with My Tree Matches. I have almost given up trying to find anyone with a connection to my family. I reluctantly renewed my membership in the week but did send a message to GR saying how disappointed I was with the site now and that I was giving them another chance in the hope that the site improved to the standard that it previously was. Also that I hoped that they were taking on board the amount of complaints being sent to them and also to read the message boards and take notice of what people are saying. The reply was that their team were working hard to improve the system and were taking a note of what we are saying. It remains to be seen. If things do not change during the year's membership then I shall not renew as it is pointless.

Hi Julie, I too have this problem and did post post a message on here a few weeks ago about it. I twice contacted the GR support team who just say they are very busy and will look into it. It is just so annoying to think that you may be missing some useful matches. Sue

I have the same problem, there are often nowhere near as many names as it says there should be. The fact that you can no longer search by letter also makes it almost impossible to search through and find the one person that you are looking for. Christine in NZ

I think it is O.K. apart from the fact that you can't select a letter. This need sorting. The extra search and filter options are a big improvement.

Thanks for your replies. I can't say I'm surprised it's not just me. I agree that being able to choose a letter from the alphabet and look at those names beginning with it used to be a good feature and I always used it when there were a lot of names to look at. When I see that say 10 names have been added in the past day, especially if it's to one of the unusual names in my tree, I get all excited at the prospect of a match (I know that sounds sooo SAD!) and then discover you can't actually view them.

As an example, I just checked the first few names on my list for the last 1 day. first name showed 70 matches, I get 57 second showed 218 I get 174 third 131 89 fourth 31 26 fifth 70 45 Etc, etc.

I have the same problem and have had it since they made this 'improvement' to the site. I have contacted GR many times about it and get the standard response. I have given up! Incidentally it's not the only problem with 'My Tree Matches'. There are a lot of bugs! Margaret

I've just looked on mine and it was ok i went into my tree matches and changed Show activity for to 1 day and it said 10 next to what ever name and it showed me 10 Julie F

Is anyone else still having problems with this? I log on everyday to check who has been added as I've found this better than waiting for Hot Matches. Since they changed the format the screen says that for example 40 'Drummonds' have been added but when you go to the next screen only 5 appear or sometimes none at all. Is this a common problem now or is it just me?!! Julie
