I have been trying to locate a record of my 2 x great grandmother on BMD Index without any success. I have been able to locate her older brother and sister and all 5 of her younger siblings, all were registered in Basingstoke District in Hampshire. Her name at birth was Ellen Budd and I know from her marriage and death certificate and births of siblings that she would have been born sometime I between about January 1848 and March 1850 (as she had a brother who was born in Apr 1847, and a sister whose birth was registered in Dec qtr 1850). Any help or advise anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Karen |

Thanks for the reply, I do not though believe that she was, as I have checked all the Budd's that have been registered in Basingstoke on possible dates including the same qtrs that siblings either side of her were registered. |

Hi Jeanette Yes I have found her on 1851 to 1891 censuses and all records point to her DOB being 1849 or 1850 (she died in May 1891 aged 41). Thanks for the reply though. |

Jess, her father on her marriage certificate is John Budd, which as you have found out agrees with the 1851 census. The father is also named as John Budd on 1861 census [Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 710; Folio: 53; Page: 18; GSU roll: 542688.] |

I am just tying to ad up possible brith years aged 5 month, and 'with child ' 9 months prior to that , the earliest she could have been born is 14 months prior to april 1851 which does end up jan 1850 ish...that was my reasoning - i did realise the fathers didnt match ---------------------------------------------------- who did these two belong to, again right time frame Francis Budd 1850 Jan-Feb-Mar Basingstoke Berkshire, Hampshire Harriett Batchelor Budd 1849 Oct-Nov-Dec Basingstoke Berkshire, Hampshire |

Hi Jess, I bought Francis's birth certificate as I thought this may have been her (unfortunately not though as this was a boy) and Harriett I think died in infancy. |

Hi Shirley Thanks you could be right as that is not too far from where the family lived..not sure though why only one child would have been registered in a different district, but never mind. I think think I will order it and see. Thanks again for looking....this has been driving me mad for ages |
