I printed form from website so think I did order birth certificate but with me there is no telling. Yes the certificate does give the fathers name but I never knew this before only the mothers maiden name so I am trying to put them together. Think I will ring registrars as suggested. Thanks for trying to help to clear a fuddled brain. |

Never had that happen myself - I've got babies in my family tree who were issued separate birth and death certs even though they died at just a couple of hours old. Not sure how you ended up with a death cert instead of a birth cert. Are you sure you didn't accidentally order it under a death instead of birth (e.g if you ordered online and clicked the wrong box) - they would probably have found the death entry even though you quoted the birth entry details, due to them being registered at the same place, same quarter etc. |

Are you saying that instead of getting the birth cert you ordered, you got a death cert? If so, ring the place you ordered it from and query it with them. Could be that because the child died so young, they decided you'd prefer the death cert lol |

I sent for a birth certificate and was forwarded a death certificate the person concerned was according to the certificate only 28 hours old could this be why. I was trying to confirm the parents and so having the death certificate didn't help. Can anyone tell me if this might have been the case or if I have been sent the wrong certificate. This has never happened before. |
