I'm starting from the birth cert. of his second child (that's where I got the Gladstone from). His wife's name was Laura Bertha and she died in 1935 age 65 so I make the assumption she was born in 1870. I thought if I found the marriage cert. I would get his wife's maiden name, his date of birth and also his father's name. Nothing shows on the 1901 census - I tried that first.

I am trying to find a marriage date for an Edward Gladstone Clarke (unusual middle name) who had a second child in 1902. I've searched 1899, 1898 and 1897 so far. Am I going about it the right way? I do know his wife was born in 1870 so is it just a matter of being systematic from about 1888 onwards. Help appreciated.
