Hi, I was hoping that someone with more experience may be able to help me. I am doing ok with going 'back' in my family history, however we have a mystery towards the end of the 19th century. Without going into too much detail, I want to trace Bertha Cotton, born 1885, in London (she may be registered Ada Bertha,as this is all I can find). Her mother was Gertrude Cotton and her father is unknown. I can find her on the 1891 and 1901 census' (registered as Rogers, I think - Gertrude later married a Mr Rogers) but do not know where to look after this. Gertrude and some of her children moved to Canada, but my great aunt remembers hearing of an 'auntie b' - Bertha? in this country. Does anyone have any ideas on how to look for her? A quick look at marriages didn't help much as I have no idea when/who she may have married. Thanks for any help you can offer! |
