Stu, try whitepages.com.au You need to select a state/territory - I chose the ACT (first option and I live here) - and it told me that there were no matches and gave me the option of a nationwide search. That brings up several Iredales and I guess you would need to contact each of them to find out if there was a connection. Lucky it is not a common name! Good luck - Victoria

Hi Louisa, Many thanks for your advice. I am searching for two members of my 'wider' family who I understand emigrated to Australia. One was John Clifford Oliver ROBINSON and the other his sister Amy. Looking on the Australian archive site I found Clifford straight away ! ! ! I found his service record which stated he had been discharged at Narrandera (?) NSW and his intended place of residence was to be Tuckwells Cottage, Castle Hill, Parramatta. So from knowing absolutely nothing I now have a starting point for one - even an address ! I now wonder what happened to Amy who married a George Iredale in England in 1916.

Hi Stu, the new south wales state library can help you with details of past electoral rolls, they are the closest thing we have in Oz to the census. If you log onto www(.)sl(.)nsw(.)gov(.)au and select services then 'ask a librarian'. Fill out the form with as much detail as possible, make sure you tell them you need all of australia and why. Select inform by mail and they will send you copies of the micro film. This way you will have a starting point for at least which state to look at then you can look at BDM for that state. the national archives of Australia site also has info on ship arrivals that you can look at online http://naa12(.)naa(.)gov(.)au/scrpts/ResearcherScreen(.)asp just log on as a guest then put your family members name good luck, Louisa

I would very much like to trace family members who I believe settled in Australia sometime after 1916. Amy Robinson (b1892) married George H Iredale (b1896) in Middlesbrough, England in 1916. I have reason to believe they emigrated to Australia. I would love to trace any descendants of them as I have a lot of information on the family. But I just don't know where to start! Are there any Iredale's out there that have roots in the North East of England? Any help (however small) would be very much appreciated.
