Thanks for the quick reply. So, I may never found out what happened/why they split then. They had a lot of children, a few of whom also emigrated. Paul

Hi all, I'm trying to work out what happened to two of my ancestors. The man emigrated to Canada, whilst the woman stayed in the UK. I wondered whether someone can tell me how to find a possible divorce for them, around 1901-1915 I think. The man is William Joiner (born c1851, Chesham, Buckingamshire). He married an Mary Ellen Elizabeth Jones (she goes by different first names, born 1846, Wiltshire) in 1878, London. This was her second marriage (her maiden name is Dawes), previously she married a Charles Jones in 1865 (London). I have William and Mary in the 1901 census. Mary died in 1923 in England, whilst William emigrated around 1910 to Canada, and died overseas in 1937. I have no idea why he went and she didn't. Many thanks for any tips you can give me, Paul
