Do any of the witnesses on the marriage cert help at all. Sometimes they are a brother or sister. Julie

Caz Do you have the death certs - who was the informant on her death cert - could they be mistaken as to her age? If it helps the Edward Smith married to Eleanor was a Fur Cutter on the 1901, can't find the other one at the moment. regards Looby

I'm not a full member of Ancestry so can't check. Edward was a labourer.....if that helps

My problem starts with my grandmother Edith Smith- (yes SMITH I know, lol.) I’m trying to trace Edith’s parentage knowing her father was Edward Smith from her marriage certificate. Knowing that; Edith married Ernest Aylward 4/9/1910 her marriage certificate puts her age at 21, (ie born 1889) which I’m told can be 2 years out. Fast forward to their respective deaths I find the Aylward couple in Ealing with Edith dying in 1958 aged 67 therefore she was born 1891. So that tallies. Looking for her and her parents on 1901 census I have narrowed it down to a choice of two families; Daughter of Edward and Fanny born Cannington, Essex, England, born about 1891. The area doesn’t tally with a family brought up in successive generations in London nor do the children’s names get handed down but the year is accurate. Or Daughter of Edward & Eleanor born Shoreditch London born about 1893 This time the area tallies, as do the names handed down to successive generations….. But the birth year could be out. Is my research flawed? Can anyone do a look up for other possibilities? What do I when I want her birth certificate... EDITH SMITH!!!? Any advice appreciated Caz
