Have discovered that 2 x gr aunt and hubby after marriage changed their family name from Hensby to Reader/Reeder after step-father. 3 of children born under Hensby and 1 under Reeder. Majority of the census they are found under the name of Reeder. I would really like to find out why they did this, but am now wondering which would be best name to put in the tree for them. Help, can anyone give me advice on this one please? |

Thanks Roy, that's a good idea. It's being driving me up the wall, next step to find out why they changed the family name. Liesele |

Inheritance??? Sometimes money or effects would be left to step-children or other relatives on condition they changed their name to that of the person writing the will. |
