STOLL not a very common name and so only handful of them here and there so it looks like this could be the one : Margery STOLL born 1915 1st qtr Warrington 8c 431 - mother James. Parents : probably Lily James who married Frederick W Stoll 1910 4th qtr Warrington 8c 278 Now, more to the point - Who is/was Frederick STOLL ?? I haven't traced him on 1901 or before - maybe he, or his ancestors, were German - Name STOLL often found in Baden-Wurttemberg but you will need the exact town of birth to go further - IF he was from Germany. Same applies for his ancestor. Good luck

Hi Lindy, I think the STOLL name is of German origin. If you try the LDS family search site put STOOL in the Last Name Box - Germany in the Region Box & put a tick in the Use Exact Spelling Box, you will come up with 1000's of STOOL names. Try the same only using British Isles in the Region Box and it will get 258 entries for STOOL in the UK. Maybe not what your looking for, but gives quite a few STOOL names. All the best Jim Leitch

The name STOLL rang a bell with me. Sir Oswald Stoll was a famous Theatre Owner and built the London Coliseum, where I once worked as an usherette, lol. His mother, an Australian, married John Stoll in Liverpool - John Stoll was a Danish Wax Works Exhibitor. I am not sure if that means Stoll was Danish, or the waxworks were! Anyway, there is plenty of Google on this Stoll family. As it is an unusual name, there may be a connection with youirs? OC

As you can see Frederick was born before the marriage of Charles and Mary. Think that was Charles' second marriage and below is his first. Very interesting what O C said as it looks like Charles Alexander's father was born in London.

I should have said Oswald Stoll was born Oswald Grey, in Australia, but took his stepfather's surname when his mother, Mrs Adelaide Grey, married John G Stoll. Oswald Stoll spent his early years in Liverpool. John G Stoll died in the 1880s, and Oswald, his brother Roderick and his mother, ran the Parthenon Music Hall in Liverpool. Unusual name, as I said, so there may be a connection there. OC
