Huge RARE Victorian Leather Holy Bible. William Collins, Sons, And Company 1868. Beautifully decorated throughout in both colour & black & white - many illustrations are tissue guarded. Binding is Leather spine has 5 raised bands. Only 1 of the metal clasps remain - The spine cover has some small slits and bumping to the ends - Some minor foxing throughout only. This aside it is in good condition & has no inscriptions on it apart from on the family register which has come loose & dates back to 1848 & on the marriages & deaths pages which is still attached to the book, the family names are Bailey & Pickard. With this book also comes a beautiful book mark & a certificate of birth registry dated 1885. Measures approx. 13½ inches x 10½ inches x 4 inches in depth, a Very Heavy Book !!! FAMILY HISTORY The inscriptions read…….Parents Names…. • Edward Pickard born July 16 1855. • Wife…Sarah Ann Pickard born 5th May 1848. • Married May 14th 1883. Then there is a list of births……. • John Bailey was born May 28th/1777 • Lucy Bailey was born January 1st/189 ? • Elizabeth Bailey was born January 21st/1840. • William Bailey was born July 31st/1842. • Edward Bailey was born May 14th/1844 • Ann Maria Bailey was born March 5th/1846. • Sarah Ann Bailey was born May 5th/1848. • Herbert Edward Pickard born on the 20 february 1884. • Florence Mary Pickard 16th August 1885. Inside the bible is an original Certificate of Registry of Birth, it is for Willie John Pickard born on the 5th October 1885 and registered on the 11th November 1885.
