Try website www.genuki(.)org(.)uk/Societies/England(.)html - remove brackets. This gives Family History Societies and you should find one that covers the area you are talking about- perhaps they can help.

Hi all. It is very possible that my grandad Cecil J Taylor was living there in 1956, as he moved from Sunderland to Skeeby. I know there was a Cecil John Taylor living there as North Yorkshire Council gave the findings on the electrol. I wondered if the cottage used to be an old post office as well as he used to be a postmaster or sub postmaster. I have tried allsorts, nothing coming up for the cottage. Thanks Karen

Have you tried googling for a village website? As Jess says it may not have any history written anywhere and may have changed names many times - if it is still standing.

Hi, does anyone know of a website for residents of Skeeby, NR Yorkshire. Skeeby is a small village yet everywhere I try no one is replying. I am looking for information on a Cecil J Taylor who in 1956 lived at Halfe Hill Cottage. No one seems to be able to tell me about this cottage, not even Richmond Tourist office. Thanks Karen
