I have started to research my husband's side of the family and am finding it hard as I don't 'know' these people yet! I am looking for an Amelia Lawrence born 1894 in Mile End, London in the 1901 census. She was the daughter of James Lawrence and Martha Lawrence. Why can't I find it?

The details are taken from her birth certificate, so one presumes they are correct! I found the record for Amelia as someone's grandaughter but the surname does not tie in. I feel like I am stuck and don't know where to go next.

Having looked for families in the London area for other GR members I can tell you that there are a number of pages missing from some area`s in the 1901 census. Eileen

Gillian

Gillian Report 5 Dec 2006 20:44

Martha's maiden name was Cole and her middle name was Elizabeth and James' occupation on Amelia's birth certificate was Boot Laster! I am so grateful for some additional eyes on this one!
