marriage in st asaph,flintshire pre 1837..where do

hi....1881 census has in liverpool ,ullet road...ellen oakes head st asaph ,flint,wales 74 eleanor 45 /harriet43/annie oakes29 all unmarried,born backford,cheshire....i have traced my tree back to backford,1760`s .... 3 bros ralph(my g.g.g.g.grandfather)...william...and joseph oakes....backford is a small village 6 miles outside chester.....i`ve been on cheshire bmd sites that have bmd in backford to 1500`s....no sign of ellen marrying in cheshire....hoping to find a marriage of unknown oakes to ellen unknown in st asaph about 1827-1836....any tips what welsh sites to view for pre 1837 marriages in st asaph/flintshire??....thanks...and regards....allan oakes,liverpool |

hi hazel...thanks...i checked as well...ellen could well have came to liverpool for work(l`pool was very busy port) in early 1820`s.married in liverpool.......moved to backford...then back to liverpool when her husband died....no sign of ellen and family in 1871 census that i can find.....regards |

You could try phoning the Records Office in Ruthin. They would be able to tell you where to look/go for the parish records. Janice |

Would it be an idea to find the birth certificate for one of the daughters? You would then have a husband for Ellen,.. and his occupation may help to locate a marriage for them. Gwyn |

have you tracked the family back through the census. hi pete....you seem very adept in your research....have you any tips regarding ralph/william/joseph oakes in backford,cheshire 1760`s...a small village....can`t find their births on backford(st oswalds) or any chesh parish records...some go back to 1500`s...checked every oakes pre 1837 ...they don`t seem to have been born in this county...or indeed any marriages of the 3 brothers...any tips...thanks ..regards...allan oakes |
