Genealogy Chat

I received my GGGGGrandfather's death certificate for 1874 in Cambridgeshire and found that there was an inquest held. The certificate said he died of natural causes, found alone. My nose started twitching.....I read too many 'detective' books and watch too many of the same on TV :) ....As his second wife (not my direct line) was 35 years younger than him and remarried VERY shortly after lol I checked the online catalogue for Cambridgeshire and it didn't say they held inquest reports so I sent an e.mail explaining I had searched the catalogue and I was just checking as to whether they did in fact have any records as I was looking for Xs inquest at Y in 1874, fully expecting a negative response. I received an e.mail, almost by return, saying I was right in there being no surviving inquest reports but if I sent more details they could make a search of the local newspapers. So I did send fuller details stating that I appreciated there would be a charge for the search and could they please let me know how much. Two days later I received an e.mail stating the search had been done but sadly there was no newspaper entry for the local area. It then went on to suggest further avenues of research. This was all done with NO charge!!! So 5*****s to Cambridgeshire CRO :))) Chris
