My Grandmother had so many Names Her birth name was Monica Bateman or Thomas born 14th Sept 1914 in Newport Gwent Wales her mother & Father had a shop near St Woolis found out her fathers name was Regnald,also she went under Russell Hole & Hale.her death ceft is under Monica Hale I have looked up all theses name and no luck.My mother got married under 2 names aswell Bateman & Russell this is so confusing,could anyone help please or advise would be so grateful.

Hi Mary Can you clarify what is says on various birth and marriage certificates, do you mean for instance your mother had been married twice or do you mean her name was double barrelled? What names are on your grandmother's marriage certificate - if you have it. Gail.

There is a marriage index for December (quarter) 1932 Monica Thomas and Andrew Russell dist Newport M.. 11a 575 I will have a look to see if I can find a Death for Andrew and another marriage for Monica What year was your Mum born? Barbara

I see Monica Hale's death was recorded in the Norwich, Norfolk district, so a possible second marriage could be in that area. Gail.
