I have been looking through parish records for a marriage around 1820 without success and wondered if someone could advise me when register office weddings commenced. Many thanks Gill

I thought it was introduced in 1837, same time as registration.

Would agree with Peter. Perhaps they were not of C of E, or got married in a different parish from the one you were expecting? Jay
