Have had references checked - whoever originally transcribed the BMD records got it wrong - this time the IGI is right!! Peter |

Peter, have you looked in the ancestry full bmd index? It is free to use at the moment and if you could find your man in the same year/quarter/area as the Mary Ann marriage then you should be safe to order the cert (£7 from GRO online) I have had a look and I cant see a Samuel Robinson marrying Newport for that quarter Im afraid. As you say, could very possibly be an error on the index? |

Hi There are only two men and three women on the free BMD page for that marriage, so there is a man missing so to speak. Eliza Freeman 1856 Apr-May-Jun Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire Samuel Richardson 1856 Apr-May-Jun Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire Mary Ann Smith 1856 Apr-May-Jun Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire Mary Anne Smith 1856 Apr-May-Jun Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire Robert Webb 1856 Apr-May-Jun Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire There is a Mary Anne and a Mary Ann on the original images, I have just checked. Both registered N Pagnell. Regards Gail |

I have a birth cert for John Robinson b 17 8 1861 in Olney, Bucks. Father is Samuel Robinson, brewery labourer. Mother Mary Ann Robinson, formerly Smith The IGI has a marriage 13 5 1856 in Olney between Sameul Robinson and Mary Ann Smith. I want to get a marriage cert. Free BMD does not show a suitable marriage. However, if I search on Mary Ann Smith I find a possible one in June Q 1856 Newport Pagnell 3a 565. The only problem is that the groom appears to be Samuel Richardson. I have checked the original and it says Richardson. Obviously either the IGI or the BMD transcription has to be wrong…..but if it is the IGI one then where did Samuel Robinson and Mary Ann Smith marry???? Or have I missed something Ideas? Peter |
