What information will i get from a death cert? I am having mega problems tracing my Grandads birth deatils, we know he was born George Smith 1908, most likely in Luton, and his dad was George Smith the coal Merchant, but i cant find anything!

A death certificate gives the following information; Date and place of death Name, sex and occupation of deceased Cause of death Name and address of informant Date of registration Also the name of a dead woman's husband might be given. Since 1969, additional information is given; Date and place of birth Usual address Maiden name if a married woman

Well the birth I gave you matches what your after, and its the only one in 1908 that I can see for Luton. At least you know dads occupation and name, which you can use to confirm it.
