Found this Googling Outlook Express disconnects me each time I check my email. How can I fix that? Document Actions First, open Outlook Express, then follow these steps: Note: Steps 1 through 7 will check to make sure Outlook Express is not trying to dial another connection: 1. Click on Tools, then click Accounts 2. Click on the Mail tab 3. Highlight the InfoWest account, and click the Properties button 4. Click on the Connection tab 5. Make sure the 'Always connect to this account using...' box is NOT checked, and click OK Note: If you are using Outlook, or a version of Outlook Express older than version 5, you will need to set the option in the Connection tab to read, 'Connect using Internet Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer.' 6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any other mail accounts you have set up in Outlook or Outlook Express 7. Once this is done, click the Close button Note: Steps 8 through 10 will check to make sure that Outlook Express isn't intentionally disconnecting you: 8. Now click on Tools, then click Options 9. Click on the Connection tab 10. Make sure the 'Hang up after sending and receiving' box is NOT checked, and click OK |

Try UPDATING Outlook - at the Microsoft Update Site. There is an upgrade available under the CUSTOM link....most of the updates under custom link should be done. Although most people have their PC's set to update automatically, the automatic updates only cover those updates found under the CRITICAL link. You have to go to the site every so often and manually update. Do the DRIVER updates under the custom link....these are necessary to keep your PC running problem free. windowsupdate.microsoft(.)com Remember to remove the ( ) from the address. Judy |

If you are on a dial up connection it could be a duff modem. A new modem is only a fiver. Carol www*genealogyprinters*com |

Can you provide a bit more information about your set up. Which email client are you using. Is it Outlook / Outlook Express? Have you recently added any security software such as Antivirus, or Firewall. Any other changes that you can recall before this started to happen? |

Try Rebooting the system.Just switch the whole thing off and leave for a few mins then switch on again. Failing that it sounds like a connection problem so may be down to your supplier and not your computer |

My e-mail connection keeps disconnecting. I am on GR then go to my e-mail to send a message but it has disconnected and the message goes into my outbox, a message comes up saying it can't be sent. I also get a yellow triangle with a ! in it coming up, should this disconnect when not in use? Betty. |
