Ancestry Scotland 1851 And 1861

I got really excited there but it's the same rip off as Scotland's People, you can't see who else is in the household to have half a chance of knowing whether it's the right one before you hand over money for the finer details. |

1851 and 1861 have the full household transcribed. You have to be a paying member to see it, but at least it is there. |

Until today I've been able to see the front page for the person with all the transcribed information (but not the image) as a paying pay per view member for the English census. Today it has not only hidden this for Scotland but for England too and wants payment for you to see anything. They're obviously eroding what you can view for your money and wanting money before you can see whether it's going to be relevant, so I guess that'll be that with Ancestry now. What a shame. |
