I have been trying to find a Birth Certificate for James Noble Nesbitt. One I sent for was the wrong one, wrong parents and another one I sent for they could not find although they searched 1846-1848. I also rang Newcastle on Tyne Registrar but they could not find him. They said he might have been born North Newcastle. I have him on the 1851 Census also on the 1861 Census. I have his Marriage Cert. which states his father was William Noble Nesbitt. But no sign of the elusive Birth Cert. Anyone got any ideas. His father was born at Alnwick Northumberland, not quite sure about his mother except she was called Barbara. Richard in Perth suggested it might be Weightman as on 1841 it does seem to be them. I sent for a birth cert saying that the mother might have been Weightman but they could not find him. So I am stuck Marina

He may not have been registered. It wasn't compulsory until 1875.

Thanks Denis and Selina, The one at Alnwick may be a possibility although it says on th 1851 and 1861 that he was born at Newcastle. Anyway thanks will have a look. Marina

Where was Barbara born? - she might have gone to her mother's for her confinement. Jay
