Thanks - I'll try gogle - I am in New Zealand so 'local libraries' are a bit difficult to access.......I'll contact family to see if they can check thosde trade directories out for me...

Dear Maureen Have you tried a library local to the area? Our local library has lots of local trade directories from the 1800s/ 1900s. Best of luck with your search Maria

Trade directories (Kelly's for example) may have listings. If he was affiliated to a trade association, there may be records. Have you tried googling? Reg

of finding out about a certain business - estate agents. My Grandfather was an agent and it would help considerably to find more info. It was in London - Tooting Bec to be precise!
